Treasurer’s Report on the Annual Accounts for the year ended 31 August 2014

Even noting that in the past year, the Association played more matches away than at home, thereby not incurring the expenses of hosting events in our own County, the Annual Accounts show a very satisfactory result for the past year of £5,512. The total value of the Association's assets stood at £22,328 as at 31 August last.

Annual Subscriptions at £2,556, were again lower than in the previous year, as the numbers of new members joining the Association are less than those not renewing. Nevertheless, the subscription income was sufficient to offset the administrative expenses and the loss on the Annual Dinner. With about 130 members, of which a sizeable proportion do not play in matches, the falling membership is more a problem for our Secretary in fixing fifteen teams a year to represent the Association as it is a financial concern. The loss on the Annual Dinner, which, incidentally was in the general opinion of the comparative few who attended it, one of the best ever, begins to give concern for it continuing in its present format.

On the results of the competitions and matches, a surplus of just over £5,000 was achieved. Many more local Clubs are requiring a deposit to be paid on booking an event, ranging between £100 to £360. Hence the reason for the rising figure of Sundry Debtors in the Balance Sheet.

I took the opportunity to write off the value of some old clothing stock which was becoming difficult to sell.

With a healthy financial Balance Sheet, it is planned to upgrade the courses we can play for the Spring Meetings, without increasing the entry fee.
